IMPORTANT! ~ We Meet At The Savage Reservoir.

We meet at The Dry Run Boat Launch

Directions from Deep Creek Lake
We meet at the Dry Run Boat Launch at the Savage River Reservoir. Regularly Scheduled trips start at 10:00AM. It is about 30-45 minutes from Deep Creek Lake.

Most folks become familiar with Route 219 which is the main thoroughfare through Deep Creek Lake. From Deep Creek Lake, turn off of Route 219 on the Glendale Road. This is the road to Deep Creek Lake State Park and it is 2/10 of a mile south of Garrett 8 Cinemas (at the light and almost across from MacDonalds). If coming from the Wisp south on 219 look For Uno’s and Arrowhead just before the light at Glendale Rd. You can only turn one way on Glendale regardless of if you are coming north or south on 219.

Turn onto and follow Glendale Rd over the Glendale Bridge and bear right staying on Glendale Rd. Follow Glendale Road until it ends and T’s at Route 495. This is a strange angled dangerous intersection, trucks are coming fast from the right. TURN LEFT ON ROUTE 495.

Go approx. 1/2 mile to the first right turn at DRY RUN ROAD. We have a kayak tour sign across from Dry Run Road. You are home free! – we meet at the end of Dry Run Road where it intersects with Savage River Road. Don’t give up and down shift on the long hill. If you miss Dry Run and come to New Germany Road you missed it.

It’s about 5 miles on Dry Run Road and it ends by going down a very long, beautiful windy road for the last 2 miles. At the bottom – do not turn on Savage River Road!  GO ACROSS SAVAGE RIVER ROAD AND THROUGH THE CHAIN LINK FENCE OPEN GATE, (ORANGE RIBBONS ON THE POSTS).

We meet down at the water and depending on water level there may be a lot of parking lot or very little. PLEASE PARK CAREFULLY AND EFFICIENTLY. If Reservoir is full and very high you may have to park up along Savage River Road. Guides do not have cell service at the meeting place, but phones are staffed if you get lost.
