Time for You and your Child too!

Time for You and your Child too!

We are launching a new program for busy families and it’s an awesome one!  Time for You and (your Child too!)

Tuesday Mornings at 10am at the beautiful, pastoral Backbone Farm in the stunning Pleasant Valley near Oakland, Maryland. We are super excited about it and think you will be too!

Starting Tuesday June 17th, and running through August, parents are invited to find serenity while their children engage in exciting outdoor activities with experienced care. Every Tuesday morning, parents can drop off their children with our experienced and creative childcare experts, where they will enjoy supervised play in nature. Activities will include exploring the woods, flower picking, and engaging crafts. Our caregivers ensure that children will have a memorable time with opportunities to sing songs, listen to a story, participate in Kids Yoga and create mementos to take home with them.

While children are immersed in these engaging activities, parents will have the opportunity to unwind fully, knowing that there is nothing to worry about. They will partake in yoga, meditation, and nature therapy amidst the farm’s tranquil surroundings. This retreat offers a perfect escape to breathe, relax, and rejuvenate. A light snack will be provided for both the kids and the adults.

After a morning of relaxation, families will reunite for a bring-your-own-basket lunch in the picturesque garden area.

Our new program is designed to meet the needs of busy, stressed individuals seeking a break from everyday life while ensuring their children have a delightful and enriching experience. We provide a safe and fun environment, allowing parents to enjoy their time knowing their children are in good hands and having a blast.

All Earth Eco Tours is committed to fostering connections to nature while providing therapeutic experiences for visitors. We invite families to join this unique program and experience the joy of nature, relaxation, and quality family time. Adventures with Raptors – Birds of Prey

Adventures with Raptors – Birds of Prey

We are thrilled to announce the return of our distinctive two-hour program Adventures with Raptors featuring a diverse array of Birds of Prey. This educational and awe-inspiring experience provides guests with an unparalleled opportunity to encounter, photograph and learn about birds of prey from around the world.

Visitors will be treated to up-close encounters with a variety of raptors, including the Yellow Headed Vulture, Burrowing Owl, Great Horned Owl, and Harris Hawk, as well as the Barn Owl, Barred Owl, Augar Buzzard and more. In addition, program participants may get the chance to see different bird species each week, ensuring that no two sessions are ever the same.

The program not only focuses on introduction and appreciation but also educates attendees about each bird species’ unique habits and habitats. Participants will discover the methods used in training and caring for these magnificent creatures, whether they are destined for falconry or are being prepared as educational ambassadors. Learn from Master Falconer, Breeder, Educator Deron Meador and his wife and partner Sherry. They love their birds and love to share their stories and their knowledge, and we love partnering with them.

Furthermore, the initiative explores the substantial work done by Adventures with Raptors, whose services include the rescue and transportation of injured raptors to Maryland’s Owl Moon Rehab Center, facilitating genetic support for zoological breeding programs, and providing captive-bred birds for wildlife educators and nature centers. Guests might also witness the presence of young baby birds, depending on the breeding season. Perfect for families, friends, and individuals in search of a unique activity, this experience promises fun, education, and inspiration for bird photography enthusiasts too. With raptors hailing from the United States, Eurasia, and South America, the program offers a global perspective on these perched marvels.

All Earth Eco Tours invites everyone wanting to get away from it all, relax, and enjoy nature therapy to explore this amazing opportunity. With a focus on providing stress-free and enriching outdoor experiences, our company ensures every visitor is well taken care of, offering a worry-free enjoyment of the natural world. Running from July 7th through the 10th, our day camp invites young campers to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature and farming near fabulous Deep Creek Lake. Hosted in collaboration with Backbone Farm, this one-of-a-kind Summer Farm Day Camp encourages children to get their hands dirty and experience the life of an organic farmer on this breathtakingly beautiful farm in the gorgeous Pleasant Valley of Garrett County, Maryland.

At our Summer Farm Day Camp, children explore sustainable farming methods, engage in mushroom hunts, discover diverse wildlife like snakes and salamanders, and participate in creative activities such as painting, decorating with flowers, cooking and planning their very own play, which they will perform for their families the last evening of Farm Camp, when we share a meal and rejoice in all the great things we’ve completed that week. Kids love showing and telling all about their time here, so they get to lead their families on a little tour of the farm, followed by a fun and fabulous al fresco farm to table dinner.

A little down time goes a long way in sustaining a healthy mind and body too, so each day we do some yoga and spend a few quiet minutes working on journals. Cooking is always a big favorite with the kids, so one day, we make a simple salad together with ingredients straight from our garden. We end our week Thursday with a farm to table dinner party for all the families, which the kids help plan, harvest and prepare. Campers also the practical skill of starting a campfire. They love that!

Our campers love Farm Camp, the time spent with the animals and the farmers, being in the garden and the barn, making veggie sculptures and creating art. They also really enjoy the time we spend in the woods; playing in the creek, hunting snakes and amphibians, and our mushroom foray is always a big hit!

This program is tailor-made for families seeking to enrich their children’s appreciation of nature and sustainability while providing a safe, engaging, and educational environment. With limited spots available, families are encouraged to secure their reservations rapidly.

Beyond the farm, All Earth Eco Tours offers numerous escapades, including our popular Kayak Tours and our mesmerizing Birds of Prey Program and Grow your Own Gourmet Mushroom workshops near Deep Creek Lake. Adventurers will also revel in our guided hikes and foraging opportunities, highlighting the rich biodiversity around us.

How Nature Can Calm Us

The benefits of spending time in nature are profound. Here are a few ways in which nature therapy can have a calming effect on us:

– **Reduced Stress and Anxiety**: The sights, sounds, and smells of nature can activate our parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress hormones.

– **Improved Mood**: Natural settings have been found to boost mood and reduce feelings of depression and anxiety. Time spent outdoors under the sun can also increase vitamin D levels, which are linked to mood regulation.

– **Enhanced Creativity and Concentration**: Nature therapy can help clear mental clutter, allowing for improved focus and creativity. Studies suggest that natural environments can refresh our mental states and enhance cognitive functions.

– **Physical Health Benefits**: Engaging in outdoor activities promotes physical well-being, from enhancing cardiovascular health to building strength and stamina.

– **Social Connection**: Shared outdoor experiences foster social connections and deepen relationships, creating lasting memories with loved ones.

We are very excited to start working with Chris this summer. What a fantastic addition! Here’s a little bit about him, by him.
“I have spent most of my life enjoying everything about the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being my favorites. Going through the Natural Resources & Wildlife Technology program at Garrett College only fueled the fire for my interests. My love of fungi and plants started in college and grew while working for the local state parks as an outdoor educator. I find that spending time outside allows me to appreciate all the small things life has to offer. I have spent 10 years as an outdoor educator in my free time, teaching classes for several local organizations. I currently work as a Natural Resources Technician III for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. My passion is to inspire others to learn about our natural world and why it is so important to conserve what we have left.”  Chris
