January 9th, 2020 Snow Report – Deep Creek Lake

Good news is we do have enough snow for snowshoeing tours! We do have a a few spaces for Sunday the 10th and we will be offering tours this coming week and next weekend. We are actually getting a little bit of a durable base of snowpack on the north facing slopes. Snow is in the forecast!

Where we are offering the tours right now can best be described as our secret north facing’ snow pocket close to the Cranesville Sub Artic Swamp. You may see no snow where you are.

Snowshoeing is practical on the hard snowpack, although there are some bare spots. Fortunately ground is frozen and enough snow remains to have a great time. The snowshoes enable great climbing and descending and keep you from stepping in holes. They are the ultimate in four wheel drive on two legs.

Slideshow above is Saturday January 9th Tour.

With snow in the forecast and cold nights (and not any rain in the forecast), we are confident we will have snow for the next 7-10 days. To make a reservation call us at 301-746-4083. Tours will mostly 9am till 11am n the morning to take advantage of the cold mornings.

Wisp has good snow for downhill skiing..

PARK UPDATE – Cross country skiing and snowshoe rentals appear to be closed at all the State Parks.
