Foraging Fun
Come out and join us, on an adventure into an amazing, weird world of fungi that never fails to impress and excite. We will be spending half the class looking for and harvesting our fine fungal friends and the other half discussing, talking, and identifying the specimens collected... We will also cross paths with and learn about some cool and interesting plants! We will share preservation techniques and some yummy recipes for the dinner table... Be prepared to hike rain or shine. Paper and pencil are recommended for taking notes and for identification. Bring something to stay hydrated.
I have spent most of my life enjoying everything about the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being my favorites. Going through the Natural Resources & Wildlife Technology program at Garrett College only fueled the fire for my interests. My love of fungi and plants started in college and grew while working for the local state parks as an outdoor educator. I find that spending time outside allows me to appreciate all the small things life has to offer. I have spent 10 years as an outdoor educator in my free time, teaching classes for several local organizations. I currently work as a Natural Resources Technician III for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. My passion is to inspire others to learn about our natural world and why it is soo important to conserve what we have left.
