EAGLE UPDATE After 5 years of searching we have finally located the eagles nest. On June 12th, 2007, our tour got a great view of the nest for the first time through our powerful spotting scope. Now we will be able to at least always offer a view of the nest for interested guests. The photo of the nest below is really poor quality but through our powerful scope you get an awesome view. Notice the eagle perching to the left of the nest. This appears to be the secondary nest and we are still searching for the primary nest.

The Jennings Randolph Nesting Bald EagleApril 27th, 2008.

Important kayak Tour Update

Spring and Early summer Kayak Tours are currently being offered on the Youghiogheny Reservoir and The Jennings-Randolph Lake (MAP) . This is due to dam problems at the Savage Reservoir and unusually low lake levels.

Jennings-Randolph: This quiet undeveloped lake has it's own eagles and shoreside nest. We love it and it's only ten minutes farther than the Savage. Larger lake with swimming allowed! For folks who have paddled with us on the Savage Rez this is new water that's really great!

Youghiogheny Reservoir: In the early season we can access the bird sanctuary and paddle up the calm river for a good distance. Trip formats vary and two-hour options are available. Call for Details. Bald Eagles Too!!!

Find real, quiet nature, away from the resort and developed areas. Don't miss the greatest kayaking escape from Deep Creek Lake. Discover a tour where you can hear the birds sing, see the eagles soar, and have fun with no worries about boat traffic or crazy wakes. Perfect for families and folks of all ages. The All Earthr Kayak Tour is simply Maryland's finest eco nature tour.

The Savage Reservoir for the past 6 years has been home to a nesting pair of Bald Eagles. This breeding pair is now the western most pair of mating eagles in Maryland. It has been exciting to see the adults teach the young eagles how to fish. Sometimes the eagles dive and catch fish right in front of or near our paddling group. Many times they perch up in the trees along the shoreline and we see them on almost every trip.

Other wildlife that has been sighted includes, black bears, osprey's, blue herons, green herons (nesting), loons, anhingas, comorants, pileated woodpeckers, red tailed hawks, sharp shinned hawks, broad winged hawks, deer, coopers hawks, kingfishers, vultures, canada geese, raccoons, mergansers, and numerous songbirds.

Maryland kayaking Trips

Your guide will teach you all you need to know and share with you information about the area and local plants and animals.
